Preprosto muss? Zanimivo, glede na to, da med profesionalnimi klimatologi velja, da je to naravnost katastrofalno poglavje, polno faktičnih in logičnih napak. Preprosto rečeno: to poglavje so klimatologi raztrgali do konca in še malo naprej, nad povsem napačnim povzemanjem pa se je pritožil tudi glavni strokovni vir, na katerega sta se pri pisanju naslonila avtorja.

The problem wasn’t necessarily that you talked to the wrong experts or talked to too few of them. The problem was that you failed to do the most elementary thinking needed to see if what they were saying (or what you thought they were saying) in fact made any sense. If you were stupid, it wouldn’t be so bad to have messed up such elementary reasoning, but I don’t by any means think you are stupid. Scientists did a quick review and what’s come out of the ensuing online debate is that the book has possibly misrepresented the position of the climate change expert, Ken Caldeira, the source Levitt and Dubner relied upon for their own position on global cooling. Based on their interpretation, they called global warming a “religion,” and claim that Caldeira said that CO2 emissions were not the culprit in climate change.

Levitt and Dubner’s portrayal of Caldeira is false. As he told Climate Progress’s Joseph Romm in an e-mail interview, he believes carbon dioxide is the central villain: “Every carbon dioxide emission adds to climate damage and increasing risk of catastrophic consequences. There is no safe level of emission. I compare CO2 emissions to mugging little old ladies.”

Small talk slovenskih mladoekonomistov se zadnje čase očitno vrti okoli klimatskih sprememb. Pred kratkim je Masten bajal o ohlajanju, tokrat domišljavi damjan murko slovenskih javnih intelektualcev profesionalnim klimatologom v domače branje nalaga popolnoma diskreditirano pop čtivo.
